There’s wall-to-wall college football action virtually all day and well into the night on Saturday, September 9 and the Sideline Hecklers are sharing our second week of Predictions on our sidelinehecklers.com blog just ahead of early kickoffs.
First, a quick look back at how #SoonerChris (Chris Kerklin), #RandomRandy (Randy Parker) and #LowedownDon (Don Lowe) fared a week ago.
In our 10 games last weekend, #SoonerChris and #LowedownDon were almost perfect, going 9-1 with their predictions, while #RandomRandy wasn’t too far behind at 7-3.
#SoonerChris had his only ‘slip up’ in taking the UCONN Huskies over the North Carolina State Wolfpack for some unknown reason. Really, #SoonerChris? UCONN?
As for #LowedownDon, he missed a ‘prime’ opportunity to go with Head Coach Deion Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes, who put together an impressive season-opening performance, while edging the defending national runner’s-up TCU Horned Frogs 45-42 in what was arguably last week’s most entertaining game by far and most talked about as well.
#RandomRandy could have been right there with #SoonerChris and #LowedownDon, but his loyalty to the Southeastern Conference cost him dearly with both Head Coach Brian Kelly’s LSU Tigers and Head Coach Shane Beamer’s South Carolina Gamecocks going down to defeat. The Florida State Seminoles rolled past LSU 45-24. Meanwhile, the North Carolina Tar Heels toppled South Carolina 31-17.
Enough on last week. Now, let’s get right into this week’s action, which includes 10 more college games, along with our first chance to pick the Dallas Cowboys matchup in their season-opener on Sunday night.
THIS WEEK’S GAMES:
Notre Dame Fighting Irish at North Carolina State Wolfpack
Texas A&M Aggies at Miami Hurricanes
Iowa Hawkeyes at Iowa State Cyclones
Cincinnati Bearcats at Pittsburgh Panthers
Texas Longhorns at Alabama Crimson Tide
Arizona Wildcats at Mississippi State Bulldogs
Oklahoma State Cowboys at Arizona State Sun Devils
Wisconsin Badgers at Washington State Cougars
Ole Miss Rebels at Tulane Green Wave
Auburn Tigers at California Golden Bears
Dallas Cowboys at New York Giants
The three of us are only going with identical choices in taking Oklahoma State over Arizona State, while also opting for Ole Miss to upend Tulane. Not surprisingly, all three of us are sticking with our favorite NFL team, America’s Team, to open strong and come away victorious over the Giants.
#LowedownDon and #RandomRandy have the most differences in their picks this week. Interestingly, #LowedownDon seems to think home field advantage is a big deal, while predicting North Carolina State, Miami, Iowa State, Pittsburgh, Alabama, Mississippi State and Washington State will all be winners. On the flip side, #RandomRandy apparently likes the visitors in a big way as he’s literally predicted every home team to lose. And, that’s #RandomRandy for you.
In his choices, #SoonerChris only has one significant difference amongst the three of us, as he’s counting on California to defeat Auburn. Not sure the thought process on this one for #SoonerChris. Then, again, he’s a fan of the Oklahoma Sooners. So, enough said.
